Shower cleaning is one of the most common concerns and frequently asked questions. In addition to keeping materials looking as new as possible, we are also care about the hygiene of bathroom spaces, which are particularly sensitive to the proliferation of mould and microorganisms.

Acrystone® resin shower trays are designed to a high standard of durability, and are also antibacterial. The composition of the material makes routine cleaning and hygiene simple and virtually effortless.

How to remove cement glue or mortar residues after installation?

Once the product is installed, to remove any cement or mortar that may remain on the surface, use a joint descaler or a specific cement cleaner. Avoid rubbing the shower tray directly to avoid scratching it.

How do you clean an Acrystone® resin shower tray on a routine basis?

After using it, rinse with water and ensure good ventilation of the bathroom.

For the routine cleaning of the resin shower tray, use water, liquid cleaners and soft cloths or non-abrasive sponges. Never use scourers as they can damage the surface of the shower tray. Don´t mix different cleaning products.

Likewise, as part of the shower tray maintenance routine, you should clean the grille regularly to avoid soap and limescale residues. In order to do clean it, remove it and apply a stainless-steel cleaning product.

If you use hair dye, rinse the shower tray with soap and water after every shower.

How to remove limescale from the shower tray

Specific domestic anti-limescale products, together with the following steps, are the way to get rid of limescale and clean the shower.

Regardless of colour, although the material is developed to prevent stains, sometimes specific cleaning is necessary beyond any usual maintenance.

One of the most frequently asked questions is "how do I get rid of yellow stains and clean the shower tray?" A home remedy to remove this annoying yellowing is to use half a lemon with salt and rub it on the stain, and then rinse off the shower tray.

Some say that yellow stains are removed by rubbing briskly with a cloth dipped in a mixture of two teaspoons of salt and half a cup of turpentine. But from mcbath, we do not recommend using such abrasive products for the maintenance of our shower trays.

How to clean mould in the shower

Cleaning mould from the shower tray or tiles (if present) is vital for

maintaining the hygiene and good health of the household. Baking soda could be your best ally if you follow these steps:

  • Pour 1/4 cup of warm water plus 3/4 cup of white vinegar into a bottle and add 3 tablespoons of baking soda. Now stir vigorously so that the mixture mixes together.
  • Then pour it directly onto the mould stains and let it sit for half an hour.
  • After this time, rub the stains with a non-aggressive toothbrush or sponge and rinse with plenty of warm water.
  • Finally, open the windows to allow your shower tray to dry.

If, despite cleaning the tiles, there is still mould on the walls, shower tray or bathtub, this could be a problem caused by a lack of ventilation. Therefore, to prevent damp and mould, it is essential to ventilate the bathroom every day. This is because when we shower, air condenses and if we do not get rid of this condensation, it can settle on the ceiling, walls, bathroom furniture and other items, which can lead to the appearance of fungus, mould and bacteria.

Remember to ventilate the bathroom daily so that mould does not reappear, and in addition to regular cleaning, do not leave the shower with water in it for a prolonged period of time.

However, if regardless of its efficiency, what you want is an eco-friendly answer to how to clean mildew in the shower, opting for a solution of hot water, the juice of a lemon and vinegar can also work for you.

How to clean a black resin shower tray.

The black resin shower tray requires special care to keep the material looking as good as it did on the first day.

Because of the colour, limescale can be more visible on black resin shower trays. Therefore, in order to completely remove dirt and stains clean it often.

Option 1: Neutral soap

This is the least aggressive option, sufficient for regular maintenance of the black resin shower tray.

It consists of applying neutral (non-abrasive) soap to the surface and leaving it to take effect for 5-10 minutes.

After this, take a soft sponge or damp cloth and wipe the areas where limescale is present.

It is then important to make sure that no soap residue remains on the surface, as this could damage the material of the resin shower tray.

Option 2: Water and diluted acetone

If the stains on the shower tray are caused by hair dyes, this is the most effective option.

Acetone has to be diluted with water (1:3) (1 of acetone and 3 of water) and mix the components without stirring. Once the mixture is ready, pour the liquid onto a damp cloth and wipe the stained surface.

Then leave for 5 to 10 minutes and rinse thoroughly with water.

After rinsing the surface of the shower tray, dry it and make sure that no residue of the mixture remains. This will prevent the resin shower tray from losing its material properties.

Option 3: Lemon or white cleaning vinegar

This option is effective against limescale and rust stains.

First of all, the room where the cleaning is to be carried out must be well ventilated, due to the smell given off by the white vinegar.

Next, you need to prepare a mixture containing:

  • The juice of two lemons.
  • Two cups of white cleaning vinegar.

For both cases you have to mix (1:2 of water). After pouring it onto the black resin shower tray, leave the product to stand for 30 minutes to completely remove the stains.

After this, wipe the surface gently with a damp cloth (without rubbing) and rinse thoroughly with water and soap.

Depending on the condition of the shower tray, some suggestions on how to clean the black resin shower tray will be more useful than others. However, this last tip is a general one:

Under no circumstances should abrasive chemicals (ammonia, bleach or hydrochloric acid) be applied to the surface. They can damage the finishing touch and age the appearance of the shower tray or even permanently stain it.
