Description
Made of the same material as the resin shower tray, it has a stone texture. It offers the same advantages as the trays (anti-slip C3 and antibacterial), with lengths available to cut to size ranging from 70 to 210 cm long, to cover any of the sides of the shower tray, either rectangular or square. They have a width of 12 cm and a back height of 3cm, allowing a sufficient inclination to allow effortless access to the shower. Available in 10 standard colours or you can choose any of our RAL.
If you are looking for an effective solution to improve accessibility in your bathroom, shower tray ramps are an ideal option. Not only do they provide comfortable access for people with reduced mobility, but they also ensure that water drains properly.
To achieve a perfect installation, we offer you this step-by-step guide that will facilitate the whole process, ensuring that the ramp is correctly positioned and works optimally.
For a successful installation, you will need the following materials and tools. Make sure you have them ready before you start to make the process as smooth as possible:
Shower tray ramp compatible with your design: Choose a shower ramp that fits both the design of your bathroom and the type of shower tray you have.
Special adhesive for damp environments: It is vital to use a suitable adhesive that guarantees a long-lasting bond, resistant to humidity and the action of water.
Silicone gun: This tool is essential for applying silicone to the joints with precision, ensuring that the installation is completely watertight.
Measuring tape: Use it to take the exact measurements of the space at the entrance to the shower tray, ensuring that the ramp fits correctly.
Spirit level: With the spirit level, you will check that the ramp is correctly aligned and that the slope is adequate.
Spatula: Ideal for applying and smoothing sealant or adhesive, guaranteeing a flawless finish.
Cloth and alcohol for cleaning the surface: Before installing, it is crucial to clean the surfaces well to ensure proper adhesion.
Proper preparation of the work area is essential to ensure that the shower tray ramp installation is successful. Make sure you follow these preliminary steps:
Thorough cleaning: Before starting, make sure the area is completely clean and dry. Use a cloth and isopropyl alcohol to remove any silicone residue, dust or previous adhesives that may interfere with the installation process.
Checking the space: If the shower tray has a border or frame, measure its height to make sure that the ramp fits perfectly and does not stick out or look uneven.
Accurate measurement is the key to a perfect installation. Here's how to do it:
Taking measurements: Use the tape measure to measure the space at the entrance to the shower tray. This will give you an accurate idea of how much surface area the ramp will occupy and ensure that it fits without problems.
Mark the base of the ramp: Mark the area where the base of the ramp will be located with a pencil. These marks will serve as a reference for placement.
Checking the fit: Place the ramp in place without fixing it, to make sure it fits correctly in terms of measurements. If necessary, adjust the edges using cutting tools suitable for the ramp material.
The adhesion step is crucial to ensure that the ramp stays fixed and stable in place. Here's how to do it:
Applying adhesive: Apply an even layer of special bathroom adhesive to the base of the ramp. Make sure to cover the entire surface that will be in contact with the shower tray to ensure a firm and long-lasting bond.
Placing the ramp: Place the ramp in the previously marked area and press firmly for a few minutes. This will ensure that the adhesive is well distributed.
Checking the incline: Use a level to verify that the slope of the ramp is adequate. This is essential to ensure that the water flows correctly and that the ramp is functional for use.
Sealing is the final step to ensure the installation is watertight. Here's how to do it correctly:
Applying silicone: Apply a layer of silicone to the joints between the ramp and the shower tray. This prevents water seepage. If you prefer, you can use transparent silicone or silicone the same colour as the ramp for a more aesthetic finish.
Smoothing the sealant: Use a spatula to smooth the silicone, making sure it is distributed evenly and without bubbles. This step is crucial to avoid any type of leakage.
Cleaning up excess material: Before the silicone dries, clean up any excess with a clean cloth, ensuring a professional finish.
Drying time: Leave the ramp to set for the time recommended by the adhesive or silicone manufacturer before using it.
Here are some practical tips to ensure that the installation of the shower tray ramp is as successful as possible:
Comfortable and safe access: If the ramp is for people with reduced mobility, make sure that the slope allows for comfortable and safe access. The ramp should be smooth enough to avoid strain when going up or down.
Adjustments in case of unevenness: If the shower tray is not perfectly level, use wedges or levellers to adjust the installation of the ramp before fixing it.
Seal check: After 24 hours, do a quick waterproofing test by applying a little water to the sealed joints. If you detect any leaks, you may need to apply an additional layer of silicone.
